AXIS Dance Company’s slogan is “…redefining dance”—and when you watch one of their performances it’s easy to see why.

Pioneers of a powerful and inclusive dance form called “physically integrated dance,” AXIS has created an exhilarating body of work developed by performers with and without disabilities. The award-winning company has become internationally-renowned for its high artistic and educational standards, as well as for its tenacious commitment to the blossoming culture of disability.

Founded in 1987, Oakland, California-based AXIS has already created over forty repertory works, two evening length works, and two works for young audiences. They've been featured in several national and local broadcasts, including public television KQED’s Spark program, WNET’s nationally-broadcast production of People In Motion, as well as in a documentary video, Dancing From the Inside Out, which won over a dozen awards.
